Program Background
In order to give full play to the role of Confucius Institutes overseas as a platform for all-round cultural exchanges and enhance the capability of Confucius Institutes to serve and integrate with local demands,principals of primary & secondary schools and local Chinese language teachers in areas, where the Confucius Institute atRutgers, the State University of New Jersey, the Confucius Institute at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv,the Confucius Institute at the University of Buenos Airesand the Confucius Institute at Hanyang University of R.O.K are based, will be invited to join the Workshop.
Program Purposes
The Workshop will serve and facilitate Chinese teaching at primary & secondary schools overseas through seminars and discussions on methodologies of language teaching; provide the participants first-hand experience to educational philosophy and academic atmosphere in Chinese schools through visiting primary & secondary schools in China, meeting with Chinese teaching fellows and having face-to-face interactions with Chinese young students; and help participants to have in-depth understanding of China’s contemporary social and economic development and appreciate traditional Chinese culture and folk customs through attending lectures on national conditions of China, taking courses of traditional Chinese culture and joining language practical activities.
Program Content
In light of professional experiences of participants, academic exchanges on various topics, specialized seminars, discussions on teaching methodologies, presentations of teaching outcomes and field visits will be arranged during the Workshop.
Participants
10 members and 1 team leader will be invited from each Confucius Institute for the Workshop. Representatives from other Confucius Institutes partners and local Chinese language teachers will be invited to join the Workshop as well.

III. Details
1. Expenses on round-trip train tickets between Beijing and Changchun, accommodation in Beijing and Changchun, cultural lectures, tickets of cultural activities and intra-city traffic will be covered by the organizer;
2. The contents and agenda of this program is subject to change in accordance with actual circumstances;
3. Participants shall purchase their own international insurance that shall cover their whole stay in China;
4. English and Chinese will be working languages during the program.
