Program Background

In order to give full play to the role of JLU Confucius Institutes overseas as a platform for all-round cultural exchanges, strengthen interactions and connectivity among faculties and students, members from the Confucius Institute at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey of the U.S., the Confucius Institute at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv of Ukraine, the Confucius Institute at the University of Buenos Aires of Argentina, the Confucius Institute at Hanyang University of R.O.K and other overseas Confucius Institute partners will be invited to China.

Program Content

All of campers will attend workshops on national conditions of China, take courses of traditional Chinese culture and take part in the language practice activities, so as to experience different teaching concept and learning atmosphere at JLU, to have a thorough understanding of the China’s contemporary social and economic development, to embrace hospitable and generous local folk customs and to taste traditional and folk culture to learn about Chinese civilization with profound charm.

The participants are expected to record what they see and what they learn during the trip with their SLR cameras and digital devices, and present their feelings and thoughts by making micro videos, which represent their most valuable memories and will be shown on the Exhibition.

Participants

20 students and 1 faculty will be invited from each Confucius Institute for the “Insight into Northeast China: 2020 Summer Tour＆Workshop of JLU Confucius Institutes” . Participants from the Confucius Institutes are mixed up with their counterparts from JLU and divided into several teams.

III. Details

1. Expenses on round-trip high-speed railway tickets between Beijing and Changchun, accommodation in Changchun and Beijing, cultural lectures, tickets of cultural activities and intra-city traffic will be covered by the organizer;

2. The agenda is subject to change in accordance with actual circumstances;

3. Participants shall purchase their own international insurance that shall cover their whole stay in China;

4. The summer camp will have exhibition in which each team will use their micro videos to show their experiences. It is suggested that campers bring their own photography devices (mobile phones with high pixels per inch and cameras, etc.);

5. English and Chinese will be working language during the formal activities. Jilin University will select JLU students according to the needs of native languages of the campers from each CI.
